Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Incorporated®

The members of Omega Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. have many to thank for their contributions to the publication of this chapter’s timeless history book. We thank the South Eastern Regional Director, Soror Mitzi D. Paige, for her support and guidance during this process. We would like to thank our surrounding communities for which we provide service: Yazoo City, Mississippi; Yazoo County, Mississippi; and Humphreys County.
We would not have been able to provide service and hence much of the content for this book if it were not for the cooperation of the citizens and entities from these cities. We thank all current and former members and officers of Omega Beta Omega Chapter for their hard work and dedication. Last, but certainly not least, we are grateful to the current administration, under the leadership of Soror Glenda Baskin Glover, for providing the vision and leadership for our history to be written, shared, and enjoyed until the end of time.

"Global Leadership Through Timeless Service"

As members of Omega Beta Omega a Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., sorors will join forces in the spirit of the sisterhood to continue to provide excellent leadership as it continues to write the Timeless History of this chapter.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority

When a legacy is as rich and as seasoned as that of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the history of each chapter becomes a critical component in preserving facts instead of fables. In order to continue the legacy of this great sisterhood by providing a glimpse into its rich history through chapter summaries, the sorors of Omega Beta Omega embarked upon the task of gathering data, statistics, and historical events dating back to 2007
On Saturday evening, September 17, 2007, a group of energetic, bold, and dedicated women of Alpha Kappa Alpha met to discuss the formation of an unofficial interest group, in hopes of one day becoming a chapter. This group was organized to serve the citizens of Yazoo and Humphreys Counties by utilizing the targets of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority International Programs and to perpetuate, “Service to All Mankind”.

On October 26, 2013, the 24th Regional Director, Adrienne P-K Washington, with approval from the Directorate Board, approved the Yazoo and Humphreys Counties General Members as an Official Interest Group named the Twenty Pearls of Wisdom.
The interest group grew to approximately 23 members and on May 16, 2015 the 25th Regional Director, Mary B. Connor, chartered a new chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Omega Beta Omega became the 105th Chapter to be chartered in the South Eastern Region and the 32nd chapter to be chartered in Mississippi.

Omega Beta Omega Chapter

Since the inception of Omega Beta Omega Chapter, membership has increased through the inaugural membership intake conducted in 2017. Whereas three years ago, we started with twenty-three charter members, has grown to several transfers, reactivations and one membership intake process.
In light of the fact that changes have graced the life of Omega Beta Omega, one thing has remained constant: since inception, Omega Beta Omega has been consistent in rendering service to the communities in which members live. In support of national programs, the chapter has adjusted its local initiatives to address the needs of its communities through programs that address education, health, scholarships, Black family, economic empowerment, mentoring, leadership development, and the arts.
The chapter has built on the legacy of its Founders by strengthening its commitment to service. This service is a testament to the power, vision and commitment of those who have kept the torch of sisterhood burning over the years.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Incorporated®

The heart of Omega Beta Omega Chapter is the dedication of its members to be of service to others. Sorors are giving to their communities their time, talents, and resources while promoting sisterly relations. This book will reflect on the past ~ the rich history ~ and the strides made by sorors so that the foundation of this chapter has a written legacy to enhance its growth. The chapter realizes that the future cannot be visualized until the past is thoroughly understood.
Much of the information in this book comes from written sources found in the chapter files. A second source has been the oral histories provided by some members. This book is a “labor of love” and a work in progress. The chapter is happy to present information gathered over the past years through 2019.
As members of Omega Beta Omega a Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., sorors will join forces in the spirit of the sisterhood to continue to provide excellent leadership as it continues to write the Timeless History of this chapter.
